Thank you so much for supporting our mission church!
It has been a busy year of spiritual and physical growth. With the Grace of God and the support of you and our entire community, we have been able to grow in ways we did not anticipate. However, some plans have been postponed or adjusted, working with the gifts God has put before us. Here is a synopsis, to catch you up on St. Silouan’s 2025.

New Christians and Catechumens
Last year we were delighted to welcome eight newly baptized and chrismated Orthodox Christians: Catherine, Christopher, Adam, Chloe, Photini, Stephania, Sophie and Maria.
Currently we are blessed to be journeying with eighteen catechumens.

Hierarch Visit
On the first weekend of June, we were blessed with the annual visit of our beloved father and hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Gregory of Nyssa. His Eminence shared a potluck in Regent Park with many young adults from across the GTA, enjoying fellowship and conversation.
On Sunday, June 8, His Eminence celebrated Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Pentecost at St Silouan the Athonite Orthodox Church and encouraged the evangelical and missionary work of the Church to share the Gospel through works of mercy, outreach to the community and in prayerful life of love that is guided by the Holy Spirit.
On Monday, Noble Joseph House had the blessing of His Eminence at the evening community dinner. During the meal many in the community conversed with His Eminence and after dinner prayed the Orthodox Compline with him.

His Eminence blesses our New Mission Parish to York Region
On Saturday, June 7th, His Eminence blessed the new mission parish of St Olga of Alaska in East Gwillimbury and brought an antimension to officially consecrate the mission. This newly established English language mission serves the North Greater Toronto Area with liturgies the first of every month in Sharon Hope United Church.
The Glorification of St Olga of Alaska
Through many prayers and with the blessing and permission of Metropolitan Gregory, Father Paul and Father Deacon Michael were able to travel to Alaska to the village of Kwethluk to attend the glorification of the patroness of our mission parish in East Gwillimbury. They were honoured to be the only invited clergy delegation from Canada. Fr. Paul and FrDn. Michael were also able to bring back relics of our mother St Olga.
Welcome Fr Timothy!
The parish welcomed Fr. Timothy, the new and second priest serving our parish community. Fr. Timothy was received into the Holy Orthodox Church by our loving father Metropolitan Gregory of Nyssa at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. With the growing activity at Noble Joseph House, the new St. Olga’s mission, and an ever growing parish, Fr. Timothy joins Fr. Paul and FrDn. Michael for much needed clerical capacity! AXIOS!
2025 Slava and Patronal Feast!
Again we celebrated in Regent Park beside the Church with many visitors from the neighbourhood joining us for a delicious potluck. On Tuesday a Festal Vespers with Litya for St Silouan was served. We concelebrated with Fr. Peter Avgeropoulos of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada, Fr. Hieromonk Policarp Athenagoras of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, and Fr. Florian Ene of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America (OCA). We thank God for the blessing of all the visiting clergy and their pastoral love and prayers.
Camp Nazareth Summer Camp
Camp Nazareth Summer camp occurred during the month of August. On July 27, Fr. Timothy blessed Fr. Paul, Presbytera Naomi and all the campers before their drive to our diocesan summer camp, Camp Nazareth.
Noble Joseph House
Each Monday in Toronto’s Regent Park, we strive to minister to soul, mind and body - to foster a community where every person is truly seen, valued, and loved. Sharing stories, joys, and sorrows, we offer warm meals, a seniors’ knitting club, a homework club, pastoral care, memorials, and an expanding range of medical services.
In January, we began offering a walk-in medical clinic. Modelled after the healing ministry of Christ and the unmercenary saints, this clinic provides basic, compassionate medical care during drop-in hours - restoring health and human dignity through pastoral medicine rooted in mercy. Renovations will begin shortly to make space for a dedicated foot care clinic and psychotherapy services, which we pray will become a consistent part of Noble Joseph House before the year’s end, God willing.
Looking ahead to the first half of 2026, and with your continued prayers and support, we hope to:
● Expand our evening meal program to include an additional day each week
● Welcome a part-time chef to help prepare healthy and nourishing meals for our guests
● Create a series of short videos to share our mission with potential volunteers and donors, spreading the message of love, hospitality, and healing that defines Noble Joseph House
We are also pleased to share that a new website for Noble Joseph House has been launched, offering an overview of our ministries, services, and opportunities to get involved. Donations can be made directly online to support our outreach and ongoing work. Please visit and share: www.noblejosephhouse.ca

The Need
Last year’s appeal we surpassed our goal of $25,000, raising over $30,000. Despite the fact that there was a postal strike, which meant that many did not receive our appeal letter until the New Year!
Our goal this year is $35,000.
Anything you can give is greatly appreciated. But as we did last year, to acknowledge any gift over $500 we will write a name of your choosing – family name, name of a loved one living or passed, patron saint – on the back of the icon of the Mother of God that is part of our iconostasis. Email [email protected] with your naming request.
Please continue to support the growth of our ministry!
Thank you again and all the blessings of the Christmas season to you and all those you love.
