Have you wondered about an alternative to modern secular education for your kids? Have you heard about classical education but don’t know much about it? Community leaders and educators at St. Silouan Orthodox Church invite you to attend an information seminar about our plans for an Orthodox classical school. We will be discussing our goals and the envisioned curriculum, as well as what a Christian classical education is and it's potential to shape the next generation. Bring your kiddos, appetites (both literal and intellectual), and questions! We look forward to sharing our vision with you! Saturday January 31, 2025, 2pm to 4pm 237 Sackville St. (Lower Level) Toronto, Ontario, M5A 3G1
Christ is Born! Glorify Him! Wishing you a blessed and joyous feast of the Nativity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! "Thy nativity, O Christ our God, has shown to the world the light of wisdom; for by it, those who worshipped the stars were taught by a star to adore Thee the Sun of Righteousness, and to know Thee, the Orient from on high. O Lord, glory to Thee." + Troparion of Nativity - 4th Tone "There was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7) As we draw near to the Feast of the Nativity, Noble Joseph House once again opened its doors in the simple and holy work of making room—room for the stranger, room for fellowship, and room for Christ Himself. Through our Noble Joseph Ministry, we were grateful to share a Christmas meal that reflected the heart of the Gospel: welcoming, hospitality, and love offered freely. On this evening, 120 meals were served, and the parish hall was filled with warmth, conversation, music, and the easy happiness that comes when people are truly welcomed. We gathered not only to eat together, but to celebrate the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, who chose to enter the world in humility and to dwell among those who receive Him. We offer sincere thanks to St. George Greek Orthodox Church (Young Adults Bible Study) for their generous help in serving and completing the Christmas meal. We are grateful as well to St. George Romanian OCA, under the pastoral care of Fr. Dn. Cristian, for filling the room with carols that lifted hearts and set the tone for the evening. Our thanks extend to St. Irene Chrisovalantou Greek Orthodox Church for providing sweaters and gift bags, and to JY for her private donation of gift bags, offered quietly and with love. A special word of thanks to Mena and Alexei for preparing a delicious turkey that many were still talking about long after the meal. We also thank all of our St. Silouan volunteers and helpers, whose attentiveness, kindness, and genuine care made every guest feel at home. The atmosphere throughout the night was bright and welcoming. Anthony played familiar Christmas music on the piano, children happily read out raffle prizes, and many volunteers and community members ended the evening with Compline, offering thanks to God for a night well shared. Indeed, the Virgin is on her way to the Cave in our Regent Park Community. Christ is born! Let us glorify Him! Wednesdays 1:00pm to 6:00pm
Fridays 1:00pm to 5:00pm By the grace of God, and through the generosity of our Neokoros, Anthony, the church is now open each week for regular quiet prayer and the praying of the Hours. It is the hope of the parish leadership that, in time, we might even be open 24/7 for the spiritual and physical well-being of all who seek rest in the Lord within these walls. Anthony’s gift—most especially the gift of his presence—has helped move this dream forward. Through his ministry, we are given the opportunity to come, light a candle, and listen in stillness for the voice of the Lord. This is a ministry that helps the church be what she truly is: a refuge, a safe and steady place amid our busy and often demanding daily lives. Come and find respite here. (Though these are our standard hours, feast days may affect the schedule—please check the schedule for any changes.) Monday December 22, 2025

After the Pageant, the children in attendance were treated to a visit from Saint Nicholas of Myra who spoke about giving to the poor and works of mercy that are lived in the Christian experience. Saint Nicholas later gave out presents to all the children. Vespers was then prayed in celebration of the feast day of Saint Nicholas, Wonderworker and Bishop of Myra. |
