Children and Youth

Phos:  Encountering the Good Shepherd

From the Greek work for light and enlightenment,  Phos is our teaching program on Sundays for children and youth.

Our Phos program currently has two CGS (see below for details) groups:  age 3-6 and 7-11, and a youth class (12+).

If you are interested in our Phos program, please come and visit us on a Sunday liturgy.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd  (CGS) is a religious education program developed by followers of Maria Montessori (Cavelleti and Gobbi).

Through scripture and liturgy, CGS exposes a child to God's Presence in their own way, in their own time, on their own terms.

Our program is led by instructors who have completed CGS training.

Currently we run this program after communion and during our Agape meal.

Youth Ministry

A church without youth is a church without a future... and youth without church are youth without a future."
-- Shenouda III, Patriarch of Alexandria.

We believe that our youth are vital to the life of our parish and our whole community.

We strive through our youth ministry to give our young people an opportunity to deepen friendships while deepening their faith.

If you would like to connect your parish's youth community with ours email us at,
st.silouan.parish@gmail.com.
